Well, somehow the goofballs in charge of the New York International Auto Show gave me media credentials this year, so I tried to make the most of it. I may have done well to talk to more humans instead of just running around rabidly photographing things, but I was thrilled at the lack of children in the way for once and was way t0o hopped up on espresso to stop. I got to sit in some very nice cars, and I had a great time.

I know, I completely failed to photograph the McLarens. I do regret that. (I missed a lot of stuff, really.) Anyway, here are some of my favorite shots, with some links to the corresponding articles I wrote over on puppyknuckles.com.

I'm not sure. It looks like regular old Grabber Blue to me. The GT350R was wearing a show-only color though, Liquid Blue.

Yeah it was cranked. Probably f22. And below iso100 whatever that super low ISO setting is. And a polarizer for an extra stop.

Nice shots!

If they'd brought the blue one, or another striking colored example, it would have got me along to the auto show. The silver just doesn't do it for me enough to put up with wading through all the crowds, for the 5% or so of cars that I'd be interested in seeing.

I need polarizer really badly, but am waiting until I get a better lens. Still working with the kit 28-70 f/3.5 on my A7 but am massively missing the low f number DOF I used to get from my 45mm f1.8 on my samsung. Zeiss lenses are NOT cheap.

I love photos like these, that really capture the details that you othwise miss without really being up close. The dimensions in the lighting elements, etc. Also, yeah, your photos of the new Ford GT (especially those buttresses), has made me rethink a lot of my initial judgments. Anyway, thank you sir!! These are the little things that really make me love cars.

So basically, Ford could lop the rear sides of the car off, give it a single rear wheel and sell it as a Ford GT RS Superleggera or something. Build like 10 of them as part of the original 400 or however many Ford has planned. Price tag it in the million dollar range and upgrade the engine or add a hybrid system so it can do more than 800hp or thereabouts. Put it up against that party of McLaren, Porsche, and Ferrari... Get America into that game.

It's one of the biggest reasons that I head out to the show each year. They usually have it on the lower level, all the way in the back. Here's a few photos from it, if you care to take a look. :)
